Peninsula Fire Protection District serves the Almanor Peninsula in Plumas County and, since 2024, the community of Chester, and is the sole operator of Advanced Life Support ground ambulances from Canyon Dam to Lassen Volcanic National Park. It is a combination department working from its main station at Lake Almanor, and it also provides staffing and management for the adjacent Hamilton Branch Fire District: Advanced Life Support ambulance transport, ice rescue with a 16-foot hovercraft, and wildland and mutual-aid response, keeping a reserve engine for statewide disaster deployment through the California Mutual Aid System.
