Mission
Beckwourth Peak Fire Protection District covers roughly 489 square miles of eastern Plumas County, anchored by the City of Portola and the rural communities of Beckwourth, Chilcoot, Delleker, Gold Mountain and Sierra Valley, running from Gold Mountain in the west to Chilcoot in the east. Approved by voters in November 2023 and legally established on 1 January 2024, it is a combination, all-risk department operating from seven fire stations: fire suppression, medical response, vehicle accidents, hazardous material spills and other emergencies, staffed through a mix of career firefighters and on-call and community volunteers across its stations.
